To date, the Friends have contributed to many summer and fall children's reading and crafts programs, have purchased audio books, CDs, DVDs, a new clock for the children's room and another for the first floor. Of course, our largest contribution was a new computer set up for the circulation desk in the children's room. We hope that we're making a difference and we appreciate all who turn out to support our fund raisers. |

Ink Cartridge Recycling: A no cost way to help us. Bring your empty inkjet printer cartridges to the library or any Friends meeting or event. We package them and forward to a recycle vendor; they pay $1 to $4 per cartridge. Unacceptable are previously-refilled cartridges or cartridges from bubble jet printers or toner cartridges from copiers. Also, our vendor recently notified us that large toner cartridges are no longer acceptable. |

Our first Bake Sale was held in front of the library on Monday, June 28, 2010. A nice assortment of homemade tea breads, brownies, pound cake, gingerbread, oatmeal sandwich bread and cookies were offered along with some charming, handmade craft items, such as copper wire angels and book marks. The friends made $105 and we thank all who purchased. |

Our Holiday Mini-Bazaar, held on Saturday, December 5, 2009, was again charming, with cross-stitched hand towels, needlepoint ornaments, bookmarkers, and angels made of copper wire and costume jewels. Home baked goods included sugar cookies, chocolate bread, and spicy prune bread made according to an heirloom recipe passed down by a beloved Auntie. The white elephant table offered baby dolls, an unused sugar & creamer set, and a collection of holiday tins for the bakers to package their cookies. Our profit this year was $107. |

We're happy to announce that we had many participants in our first Silent Auction, held during the month of June, 2009, and we thank everyone of you. We'd like to do it again next year on a grander scale. We hope that you're enjoying that something special you cared enough to bid for. Our profit was $148 and it will be spent for something on our Library's "wish list." |

In recognition of National Library Week, which is April 12 through 18, the Friends, as of March 11, 2009, gave a check to the library in the amount of $480.50 to pay for 300 "green" bags. They will be given out to the patrons of the library to encourage use and re-use of totes in the spirit of ecological protection of our environment. They are a dark green woven nylon type of bag with white print that says Hackettstown Free Public Library and states their website URL. We hope that seeing the name of our library will remind the citizens of Hackettstown that there's a wonderfully comfortable community library in our town with something for everyone. |

Our annual Holiday Mini-Bazaar held on Saturday, December 6, 2008 brought in a profit of $173. We had fun with our offerings, everything from lavender muffins to needlepoint ornaments to sparkling tiaras for the little princess in your family. Thanks to those who helped and to those who purchased. |

The used book sale, held on May 17, 2008, brought in $453. We think our profit dropped due to a lack of dealers buying in bulk. we intend to make it a routine practice to notify dealers in our area.

| Our used book sale of September 29, 2007 was a huge success, thanks to all of you who donated and/or bought books. The weather was perfect for an outdoor event...but no event is successful without people who care. The Friends earned $911 for the benefit of the library. |
Below are a few photos of previous book sale days--we thought you might enjoy them. The usual net is between $700 and $1,000. A good time was had by all. |
